Why do weeds keep coming back?
Two reasons. First, most weeds come from seeds already sitting in your soil, and they sprout whenever there's a thin spot and some sunlight. Second, a weed killer only works on the weeds that are up right now. Lasting control means stopping new ones before they sprout and keeping the grass thick enough that there's nowhere for them to grow.
How does Shades of Green control weeds?
Crabgrass: a two-part pre-emergent program
We put down crabgrass preventer twice, once in fall and once in spring, one granular and one liquid. Two passes cover the lawn better than one. Any crabgrass that still breaks through in summer gets spot-treated.
Broadleaf weeds: treated when they're growing
Dandelions, clover, thistle and other broadleaf weeds get a post-emergent treatment while they're actively growing, before they go to seed. Technicians check for them on every visit.
Nutsedge: spot-treated, with a caveat
Nutsedge spreads from underground nutlets, so it's the slowest weed to beat. Spot treatments are included in every package. If a lawn needs more than spot spraying, extra nutsedge applications cost extra. We'll tell you before we do them.
What weeds do you treat?
Around 40 weed species show up in local lawns. The common ones are crabgrass, dandelion, clover, thistle, ground ivy (creeping Charlie), bindweed, annual bluegrass and yellow nutsedge. If you're not sure what you've got, send a photo with your quote request.
What does weed control cost?
Weed control is part of every package, starting at $41 a month for a 3,000 sq. ft. lawn. It isn't sold separately, because a weed treatment without fertilizer just leaves bare dirt where the weeds were.
