Irrigation & Sprinkler Services in Lafayette, IN

Spring startup, system audits, backflow testing and fall winterization, in three yearly packages. And repairs when something breaks.

Why does a lawn care company take care of sprinklers?

Because we see what the water does. Our technicians are on your lawn all season, and they keep running into the same sprinkler problems: a dry strip along the house where no head reaches, a head sitting too high for the mower, a corner that stays soggy. Fertilizer can't fix a lawn that gets too little water, or too much. With irrigation service, one company looks after both.

What does each service actually mean?

Sprinkler system startup

We turn the water back on in spring, bring the system up to pressure and run each zone, so you find out about problems before summer does.

Sprinkler system audit

A closer look at how the system is running: heads adjusted, valves checked, and adjustments made so the water lands on the lawn.

Backflow testing

A yearly test of the device that keeps sprinkler water from flowing back into your home's drinking water.

Winterization

In fall we clear the water out of the system so it can't freeze and crack pipes, valves and heads over the winter.

Sprinkler repair

Broken heads replaced, leaks repaired, and valves and controllers repaired or replaced. Priced by the job.

Not sure what you need?

Tell us what's going on: a dry spot, a zone that won't come on, a system you've never had checked. We'll call and talk it through.

What does sprinkler repair cover?

When something breaks, we fix it. We replace broken sprinkler heads, repair leaks, repair or replace valves, and repair or replace controllers. Repairs aren't part of the packages, so they're priced by the job.

How much does irrigation service cost?

Every system is different, so we quote yours rather than publish one price. Send your address and what you know about the system, like how many zones it has and where the controller is, and we'll call you with a price for the package you're interested in.

What do our customers say?

“Shades of Green has taken my mess of a yard and has turned it into a green paradise. This is our first year using a professional yard service and Cory and his team has exceeded my expectations. I saw great results after just the 1st weed application. I also use them for my irrigation services.”

Common questions about irrigation service

What's the difference between a startup and an audit?

A startup gets the system running for the season. An audit is a closer look at how well it's running: heads adjusted, valves checked and adjustments made. Preferred includes one audit a year and Premium includes three.

Why does backflow testing matter?

The backflow preventer keeps water from your sprinkler lines, which can carry fertilizer and soil, from being pulled back into your home's drinking water. Testing is the only way to know it still works. Many water utilities require a yearly test.

When should my system be winterized?

In fall, before the first hard freeze. Water left in the lines can freeze, expand and crack pipes, valves and heads.

Do I need to be home?

We need to reach the controller, and it's often in the garage. If yours is inside, tell us when you request service so we can plan the visit.

How often should you water?

Our guide to watering schedules in Indiana covers the best time of day, how long to run each zone, and why a brown spot doesn't always mean the lawn needs more water.
